About the art

As an artist, I want to share my thoughts and inspiration behind my piece of art called "Falling Waters." This artwork captures a photograph of the Nicholas J. Mee-las Centennial Fountain on the north side of the Chicago River. I was fortunate enough to be inside the waterfall when I took the picture, freezing the cascading water in time. When I look at this photograph, I see the beauty of nature and the power of water. The lighting conditions on that day were perfect, allowing me to capture the essence of the waterfall. However, during the post-production process, I converted the image to black and white, resulting in a dark side on the left. This was a deliberate choice to add depth and contrast to the photograph. But beyond my own interpretation, I want viewers to find their own enjoyment and meaning in this artwork. I believe that art is subjective, and each person can have their own unique experience with it. Whether it evokes a sense of tranquility, awe, or curiosity, I hope that viewers can derive their own pleasure from this piece. In reflecting on my journey as an artist, I have come to realize that things in life often work out differently than expected. Sometimes, the unexpected outcomes can lead to positive experiences and opportunities. It is important to find perspective and take breaks to refresh and let go of control. I am grateful for the opportunity to have my artwork included in a collection and for the response it has received. It is a reminder that even though I strive for control and success, I cannot always control everything. Just like the water in the painting, life has its own course, and things tend to work out in the end, even if not always as desired. Overall, "Falling Waters" serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of embracing the journey, even when faced with challenges. I hope that this artwork resonates with others and encourages them to find their own meaning and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
