I thought it would be cool to share the process behind creating my artwork titled "Indigo…" After completing a previous piece featuring extravagant hair designs, I decided to start a new project using gouache as the main medium. Gouache is a blend of acrylic and oil, which makes it easier to blend colors. The inspiration for "Indigo" came from a portrait of a model that I saw. I first recreated the portrait in my sketchbook, and then transferred it to my iPad for digital work. Once I was satisfied with the digital version, I printed it off and used a projector to transfer it onto a canvas. The piece itself is predominantly indigo, hence the title. While gouache is the main medium, there may be some acrylic mixed in as well. I love how gouache allows for easy blending, giving the artwork a smooth and cohesive look. I'm really proud of how "Indigo" turned out, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
