I created "Salty Breeze" using acrylic paint on a wooden canvas. I wanted to challenge myself and improve my skills in painting ocean waves, so I decided to depict a beach scene with cloudy skies in the background. I also wanted to try something new, so I incorporated a palm tree into the artwork, even though I had never painted one before. To prepare for the painting, I did a lot of research and practice. I watched videos and read articles on how to paint palm trees, and I practiced on paper before attempting it on the actual canvas. I also practiced painting clouds and waves to make sure I achieved the right texture and used the right brush and colors. It was important to me to experiment and learn new techniques. When it came to actually painting, I started by sketching a rough outline with a pencil. Then, I added the paint directly onto the wood. I learned that different types of wood can affect how the paint is absorbed, so sometimes it's helpful to apply a base coat of white paint to prevent excessive absorption. As for the impact I hope my artwork will have on viewers, I don't necessarily aim to tell a specific story with my art. I believe it's up to the viewers to interpret and derive their own stories from my work. I think art is a personal experience, and everyone brings their own unique perspective to it. Overall, the process of creating "Salty Breeze" was a journey of growth and exploration for me. I challenged myself, practiced, and learned new techniques along the way. I'm excited to see how viewers interpret and connect with my artwork.
