So, I recently created a painting titled "Scarlet" and I thought I would share a little bit about my process here. This piece is all about vibrant reds and I used a combination of acrylic, gouache, and Posca pens to bring it to life. The inspiration for this painting came from a model I found on Pinterest who had stunning red hair. I was immediately drawn to it and knew I had to capture it on canvas. To start, I sketched out the composition in my sketchbook. Once I was happy with it, I transferred the sketch onto my iPad and projected it onto a larger canvas. This allowed me to accurately recreate the proportions and details of the model's hair. With the main sketch in place, I began painting. I wanted this painting to be beautiful, so I focused on capturing the richness and intensity of the scarlet color. I used a combination of acrylic and gouache to build up layers and create depth. The Posca pens came in handy for adding finer details and highlights. Overall, my goal with this painting was to create something visually striking and captivating. The vibrant reds and the model's flowing hair were the perfect subjects to achieve this. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and I hope others find it as beautiful as I do.
